Speaker: Dr. Michael Nettersheim


Michael Nettersheim studied chemistry at the University of Bonn. Master thesis and PhD thesis were prepared in the fields glycosphingolipid metabolism and related disorders. During his thesis MN developed his experimental skills in biochemistry, molecular biology and protein chemistry. By the end of his PhD thesis MN received a first training in finance at the German Association of Financial Analysis and Asset Management (DVFA, Dreieich, Germany). Upon graduation as a Certified Biotech Analyst MN joined the Munich based biotech company MediGene AG as Manager Investor Relations. During his time with that company MN deepened his financial and business administration knowledge by participating for 2 years in an Executive MBA program from Kellogg (USA)/WHU (Germany). Within his MBA-thesis he examined the accounting for intangible assets of biotech companies under IFRS. Finally, MN served as a Director of Corporate Finance and Investor Relations at MediGene being responsible for the company’s communication with capital markets, financing, mergers & acquisitions and specific accounting issues. In late 2008 he joined the life sciences team of High-Tech Gruenderfonds which is Germany’s largest seed investor in the biotech industry. His task is to identify new investment opportunities and to manage investments that have been made.
