Hi,
Here is a comment on “…especially if one plans to leave academia and aims at entering industrial biotech. Here’s a good starting point:” and the Euraxess website:
It is in fact a very bad starting point especially for those who wants to move from academia to industry. It is nearly impossible to find a job vacancy that is not a PhD position, a postdoc or a tenured position in a University. This bias towards academic “job” is easily explained by the type of organization that actually provide these opportunities. As an example, 137 organization are listed for United Kingdom and nearly all of them are universities or schools.
I hope that in a near future Euraxess will provide as much as job opportunities in the industry and biotech sector than PhDs and postdocs temporary positions.

We need people starting new biotechnological companies: it seems that something goes wrong when most of the graduated people have to remain at university with their PhD.
It’s necessary to redress job offer imbalances: are there too much graduates or not enough biotechnological companies?
This inadequate job opportunities in the industry poses a great danger to young life scientists, students and prospective students in this field of science. It is a wake up call for everyone.
